Monika Cicolella

Born in 1977 in Poland, Monika Cicolella is a French-Polish artist. In 2012, she settled in Shanghai, where she was trained to Chinese ink painting by Chinese masters. Combining her Western influences with
traditional techniques, which are based on the painter's breath and gesture, she offers a joyful and luminous painting, pulsating with energy.

Through the series Energy of Trees, Monika expresses her deep attachment to Nature and creates semi-abstract and colourful portraits of trees, bringing poetry and energy into the room. She draws her inspiration from her childhood memories, from her encounters with trees around the world as well as from the gardens of writers, artists and philosophers, with whom she feels a special connection (such as Pierre-Auguste Renoir in Cagnes-sur-Mer, George Sand in Nohant, Claude Monet in Giverny, Voltaire in Ferney-Voltaire, Jean-Jacques Rousseau in Chambéry, Charlie Chaplin in Vevey...).
